Daily Affiliate Tasks
How would you like to promote something once and then continue to get affiliate commissions month after month? Let me tell you, it’s nice! I’m promoting several programs with recurring commissions including an autoresponder service, webhosting and several membership sites.
What Are Recurring Affiliate Commissions?
With the traditional affiliate marketing model, you refer a customer to a website where they buy a product. You then make a percentage of that sale as an affiliate commission.
Now think of products and services that require a monthly or weekly fee. Your gym membership is a good example … or the hosting that you pay each month for your website. With a recurring affiliate commission, you get a percentage of each monthly (or weekly) payment that’s made.
How Do You Find These Programs?
I recommend starting with services you are already using and membership sites you are a member of that relate to the niche you are in. If you’re not sure if a particular service or membership offers an affiliate program, just ask.
You can also look on sites like Clickbank or affiliate directories. I also like to Google one of the main keywords for my niche followed by terms like “recurring commission, recurring affiliate program” etc.
Last but not least take a look at what your competitors are promoting and see if any of those programs offer recurring commissions.
What Are The Best Ways To Promote Them?
Reviews – They are a great way to introduce your readers to a new service or membership site. Show them how you are using it and more importantly how you’re benefiting from it. Don’t be afraid to share some negatives as well. It’ll make your review more believable. Ideally you want to also show them how you overcame or compensated for anything you don’t love about the program or service.
Free Or Low Cost Trials – Find out (or ask) if there’s a free or low cost trial. If so, share that with your readers. It makes it much easier to get someone to give it a try. Not all of them will stick around for the coming months, so don’t get disappointed if you don’t see as many recurring commissions. Overall it’ll be well worth it though.
Recommending Them In Content – Mention your favorite membership sites that you subscribe to and services that you use in context. I’ve done this very successfully with the MyNams memberships and Aweber (an autoresponder service) among others. Anytime one of these comes up in a blog post or article on your site, be sure to link it to your affiliate link.
Social Media and Email Marketing – Don’t forget about social media and email marketing. For example, every once in a while I’ll mention that I got a new issue of a paid newsletter using my affiliate link. I haven’t made a ton of sales that way, but it takes just a few seconds and those recurring commissions will slowly add up. While you’re at it, write an autoresponder email for one of your lists that recommends the product as well.
Create Short Reports and Small Info Products – This is something I came up with about 6 months ago and it’s working beautifully. Start with the program you want to promote, and then think about something your target market needs to know first. Write a short report or even better; create a small info product on the topic. Recommend the affiliate product in your report or ebook, on the download page and in an autoresponder follow up. I’ve done this for Nicole Dean’s Income CPR and it works like a charm. Hardly a day goes by where I don’t get an affiliate sales notification for a new or recurring payment.
