NAMS 8 Instructor Spotlight: Felicia Slattery
Kill the Elevator Speech

Felicia is going to entertain the crowd on Saturday morning with her Keynote speech and you’ve got to love a session description that is so intriguing! I can’t wait to see how this all comes together!
CRIME REPORT:
Suspect Name: Joe Jobseeker
Known Aliases: Sally Salesperson, Marty Marketer, Arthur Author, that guy everyone avoids at the networking event
Common Hangouts: Elevators, networking events, conferences, bars, restaurants, office breakrooms, meetings, job fairs, seminars
Crime Description: This person is seemingly everywhere. Victims innocently introduce themselves at a meeting, and are suddenly verbally assaulted by a 30-60 second barrage of facts about the perpetrator and his career experience, attacks known in some circles as “the elevator speech.” These attacks are generally unprovoked and leave the victim bored, frightened, and/or unable to respond. Victims report an intense desire to get away from “the elevator speech” (aka “elevator pitch”), while also expressing regret that “he seemed like a nice guy.”

The only way to stop the madness is to “Kill the Elevator Speech.” That’s right — you can kill this “tool” that no one likes to give or hear. Before you can do that, though, you need special training. That’s where Special Agent Felicia Slattery, M.A., M. Ed comes in.

A well-known speaker and consultant, Slattery has literally written the book on killing the elevator speech, and she will pass on her years of knowledge and experience, “deputizing” YOU in the fight against the elevator speech. In her signature warm, engaging, and witty style,

Felicia will give you the tools you need to develop a more natural — and effective — style of networking communication that doesn’t rely on memorizing an unremarkable introduction, but engages and lays the foundation for a solid relationship.

What Felicia has to say about NAMS:

NAMS was one of those events I’d heard about for several years where many of my friends and colleagues were teaching and attending, but I wasn’t sure it was for me. Then David invited me to be a keynote speaker, I went, and LOVED it! I’ve never been to a marketing event that is so well organized and allows every single attendee to learn at the level they need at that moment in their businesses. Even in the advanced room, where I spent much of my time, I was literally in awe at the info, strategies, and techniques that were discussed in great detail.

Not only is it a place to get some actual “how to” and hands-on learning, but NAMS is one of those events where everyone who attends has a servant’s attitude, many often asking, “How can I help you?” It’s a wonderful place to network and meet with others who get you and want to help you move forward. If you’ve never been, you gotta go… and if you’ve been, I’m certain you’ll go back and I can’t wait to see you there!”
