When I bought NAMS, I'd already been coaching for years.

However, I was consistently looking for new clients. At the end of each short coaching period, my clients moved on. I wasn't focusing on the "right" clients and I certainly wasn't loving what I was doing or bringing the results I hoped for.

So, what's wrong with that if the programs are full?

Well, a few things!

First, I was stressed and frustrated. I've always said, "I can't want this more than you."  Those were the clients I was attracting. Folks who didn't know what exactly they wanted in their life or business. They didn’t have passion.  They wouldn’t do the work or implement!

You might think, "Oh well, you got paid." But the thing is, I felt guilty. And that guilt turned to stress.

Second, those clients didn’t stay, so I was on a constant merry-go-round of always having to fill those spots!  Of course, clients come and go, but my churn was way too high!

Third, I wasn't building my reputation in coaching because we just weren't the right fit. So, I was never able to build my "coaching brand." It was like starting all over each time I opened a program.

How did I fix this problem in my own business?

I went through an in-depth process to determine exactly who my ideal client was…the type of person who I love helping, puts my coaching in to practice, stays for the long-term, and refers others to me.

This is the thing coaches often hate doing, but I found a way to refine the system and make it easy to follow.  YOU can create a strong personal brand that attracts your ideal clients.

Then I focused on the right content, training, relationships, and marketing that attracted those types of clients into my programs.

Next up, I launched my new program, and I did it with just a Google Document. I didn't even have a sales page. (Don't let that pesky tech keep you down!)

Guess what happened? I filled the program.

Since, I've opened more spots 4 times and have filled them. All from a waitlist.

And now, I've got a sales page that conveys precisely who my target audience is, and clearly states my offer and the results my clients can expect!

Now that I’m surrounded by my ideal clients, it has freed me up from having to rely short-term and one-off promotions.

I'm spending more time with my clients, more time traveling, more time with my family, and my favorite... I know what I need to do in my business each day to keep my revenue where I want it!

“But, seriously, Jen. I’m not a marketing expert. Where do I even start?”

Can you imagine his frustration and anger, knowing he never got anywhere?

Actually, I bet you can relate a little to the frustration and anger of your work not bringing the results you'd hoped for. Am I right?

From this story comes the idea that the worst punishment in the world is eternal pointless labor. 

Well, I can't tell you how many times I've talked to a potential client, and they feel like they are constantly doing all of this work in their business only to have it come crashing down on them.

Requiring they start all over.

It didn't work. It wasn't thought out well enough.

And in hindsight, all of that work does seem POINTLESS if you don't have someone showing you HOW to get the results you want. 

Sisyphus metaphor. Man rolling huge concrete ball up hill. Sisyphean work, task.

But here's the thing...

  • If the work you do is intentional
  • If you followed a proven process
  • If you develop precisely what your ideal client or customer wants

Then the work is NO LONGER pointless. The work actually pushes you towards success and up over the mountain. The boulder finally gets to the top!
