As a member of the NAMS faculty – and a true believer in what this fantastic group does for people – I was already going to recommend MyNAMS to my members. It's easy to get 100% behind something when you know it's going to benefit your members.
However, add the competition of a contest and cool prizes and the dynamics push me to 110%. More importantly, the competition defines a goal.
The Prize Becomes The Goal
When David announced the Sales Incentive Contest to kickstart MyNAMS, I took a look at the prize list. The prize that caught my eye was the Kindle.
I don't have a Kindle. I've never even seen a Kindle in real life. And, since I read paperback books, I've never justified it to myself to order one. However, I do want one for a very specific reason.
See, I believe that publishing books for Kindle is a must for my business. From all I've seen with the Amazon stats over the recent years – and now that their e-book sales have surpassed their physical book sales – publishing on Kindle is going to be very important to any infopreneur's bottom line, now and in the future.
Now, the one little niggly problem I've had is that I've never seen any of my books on an actual Kindle. Do they look the same as they do on my Kindle for PC? Is the formatting OK? Or do my books need some touchups for optimal presentation?
So, when I saw the Kindle on the prize list, it was a quick and easy decision to make it my goal. Yes, there were bigger prizes on the list, but the Kindle was what appealed to me. It needed 30 sales. There was my goal – I had to make at least 30 sales.
The Importance Of Quality
Of course, if the only reason to promote MyNAMS was to win a Kindle, that would be a shallow goal. First, you must believe in what you're promoting – and I believe in David Perdew, NAMS, and the faculty and students. So, it was already easy to get behind this promotion.
What the prize does, is define the goal.
Eye On The Goal
Now that I had a goal (30 sales) it was time to take action. I sent my first e-mail out on Saturday morning (US time), telling my members about MyNAMS, listing the highlights, and letting them know that they could get in during pre-launch for the fantastically low $9.70/month.
Then, because not everyone reads, or even sees, e-mails in their inbox on a Saturday morning, I sent a copy of the same e-mail on Sunday night. Now, as this was September 11, I did not want to come across as a greedy promoter on America's day of remembrance, so I added a quick note to explain why I was re-sending this – because it was important.
By Monday, I had 25 sales. "Oh yeah", that Kindle was already within reach.
I had already prepared a mailing for Monday night – this one showing my members how they could get the extra guidance I can't provide, by joining MyNAMS. By Tuesday, I'd met my goal.
But, once a goal is met, what do you do?
Setting Your Next Goal
Goals can be milestones. Now that I'd reached the 30-sale milestone, it was time to set the next goal. After all, I know that MyNAMS is going to benefit many of my members – so, it deserved more promotion.
Looking over the list, if I garnered another 20 sales, I could add a $100 Amazon gift certificate to my Kindle. Needless to say, as an avid reader, an Amazon gift certificate is always appreciated.
My next tactic was to interview David himself. I sent him a question in Skype: “David, what's so special about MyNAMS and how will it benefit Product Creation Labs members?”
Now, I knew the answer to this, but I wanted my members to hear it “from the horse's mouth”. And David complied with a unique 4-minute video (you can see it at http://KevinRileyPublishing.com/MyNAMS).
After that video, sales jumped to 41. Well on the way to adding a gift certificate to my Kindle ... and 41 of my members will now benefit from MyNAMS.
Where Does It End?
It doesn't! I'm a member of NAMS faculty because I strongly believe in what we're doing. I think that beginner, intermediate, and even advanced Internet marketers need the excellent training, advice, and support offered by MyNAMS. I've already offered to do more training sessions and get even more involved. My promotion will not stop. The goal never ends.
I intend to keep promoting MyNAMS even after the launch – even after it jumps to $97/month. Why? Because I believe the value is greater than the price.
So, I'll be conducting a high-power campaign to get as many of my members into MyNAMS as possible, while it's still in pre-launch at $9.70/month. Yes, the Kindle is clinched, the Amazon gift certificate is within reach, but I'm extending my goal further ... another milestone to reach.
