I took lots of notes and typed frantically on my keyboard quite a few times during the weekend, as is always the case during a NAMS event or webinar, but a few things were stuck in the front of my mind - and not all of them came out of the presentation rooms.
I attended a variety of classes in every track, I spent time visiting the 100, 200, 300, and 400 rooms during the weekend. I wanted to fill in a few gaps that I knew I had in my business models and I wanted to learn new things to grow overall as a whole. That is my favorite thing about NAMS, no matter what track you follow or what room you find yourself sitting in, there's always some little tidbit to takeaway from the event.... and sometimes there are tidbits to take away from the dinner table, or the fire pit as it might be.
There's always something.
When I sat in on a few of the beginner sessions a few people said to me, "you probably already know this stuff," and that was true in some cases, but I walked away with actionable notes from every session I attended - including the 100 and 200 beginner tracks.
When Lynn explained social media for SEO, I learned a lot. When Nicole talked about building assets, I learned a lot. When Ellen talked about email marketing, I learned a lot. When Susanne talked about increasing income, I learned a lot. When Dan talked about knowing what to sell, I learned a lot. When Regina talked about security, I learned a lot.
The first action item on my to do list was double checking security.
The stories and examples given in relation to that topic were eye opening. All those times I sat in the bookstore or coffee shop and logged into all sorts of things ... Yikes! Was my router at home secure? I wasn't sure, I didn't do the set up myself ... thankfully it was. Were my passwords safe? Not as safe as I first thought they were, and not all of them. I still have some security items to check off as I go though my usual web routines, but within 2 weeks everything will be up to much better standards of security than it was before I arrived in Atlanta.
Now the second thing is working on my social media profiles like Lynn talked about and I'll be starting work on that tomorrow morning....
Again, I want to say thank you to David, his lovely wife Charlsa, all the instructors, aides, and attendees for a wonderful weekend packed with great information.
